The tale
Every parish has its tale of a couple who could not abide each other, but few keep the row going past the churchyard wall. The Undying Feud is a black comedy by candlelight: two one-time sweethearts, long dead and nowhere near quiet, scowling at each other across a crooked gothic stage of skulls, coffins and broken hearts. It is less a ghost story than a kitchen-table quarrel with the volume turned right up, and it is easily the rowdiest tale in the hall.
How a round unfolds
Nothing on this grid stays still. The central reels grow and shrink with each spin, and as they do the count of possible connections rises and falls, peaking at 72,030. Symbols that form a combination drop out of sight and fresh ones tumble down to fill the holes, so one spin can run through a chain of cascades. Along the top and bottom of the central reels run extra horizontal strips, and symbols landing there may carry a multiplier. Every multiplier that joins in is added to a tally for that spin, and the tally is applied to the play credits the spin brings in.
The free spins, counted in credits
Three, four, five or six scatter symbols open the free spins, and the more scatters you land, the longer the round: anything from 10 spins up to 25. Here, each symbol on the top and bottom strips arrives carrying a multiplier, and the overall multiplier never drops back during the round, so the quarrel grows noisier spin by spin. It is all reckoned in fictional credits: nothing to purchase, nothing to withdraw and no prize waiting at the end, only the show.
Playing at an easy pace
Because cascades can stretch a single spin out, this tale can feel quicker than it really is. Fix a firm finishing point, and get up from the screen now and then to stretch and rest your eyes on something that is not moving. Keep autoplay off, or limit it to a handful of spins, so that you remain the one making the choices. If you are weary, upset or playing to blot out a hard day, let this tale wait for a kinder night.
